RUBBIA AL COLLE WINERY

Opened in 2008, Rubbia al Colle winery is made of a more than 10.000 square meters (14,000 sq.yd.) completely underground structure. Rubbia al Colle is called “the winery that is not there” because you can’t see it but it is there. The whole winery has been thought in total respect with the land where it has been built. Thanks to an impressive photovoltaic system, the winery it is energy self-producing.

Rubbia al Colle produces eight different red wines: three Sangiovese wines, three Bordeaux blend (primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot) and two no added sulfites wines. These wines were created to express the unique characteristics of the territory.

They are made from the same grapes, but due to the diversity of the territory, they result very differently among themselves. The idea of discovering the personality of a wine, based on the environment in which its grapes are grown, is one of the basic principles of Archipelago Muratori philosophy. This respectful approach to wine making allows for the creation of wines that are authentic images of this small but diverse area of Tuscany, the Val di Cornia.

From Monday to Friday: Rubbia al Colle is opened for guided tours by reservation.
